Who are Redd Kross? The last line-up of the band (1997) consisted of:
Have Redd Kross broken up? Well, there was never really an official "official" response to this question from the record company or the band members, but as far as things go, yes they have. Brian did a tour with the band AIR (Oct 98), Steve is (sometimes) seen playing in Anna Waronker's band. Jeff is working on some solo material and Eddie passed away in June 1999.
Will Redd Kross be getting back together? The current rumor suggests they will be! Apparently Pat Smear is going to join the band on guitar, along with Jeff on guitar/ vocals, Steve on bass/ vocals and an as yet unnamed drummer.
Who are Jeff & Steve's main influences, and what bands do they listen to? Throughout the years, the McDonalds have mentioned being into: the Beatles, Rolling Stones, Banana Splits, the Runaways, Kiss, Night Ranger, Seeds, Stryper, that dog., 5.6.7.8's, the Brady Bunch, the Disposals, Alice Cooper, Charles Manson, Pink Floyd, the Ramones, the Bangles, the Quick, Spice Girls, Stone Temple Pilots, Cher, the Donnas, Beach Boys, the Go-Go's, the Muffs, Evan Dando, the Kinks, the Partridge Family, Frightwig, White Flag, Reba McIntyre, the Cowsills, Flamin' Groovies, Shonen Knife, Ike & Tina Turner, Pandoras, the Who, the Monkees.... the list goes on........... Whether or not they were serious a lot of the time is another thing altogether!!!!
Is the Redd Kross Army still in operation? As of some time in 1997, the Redd Kross Army seems to have deserted their fans. No one has heard from them or received anything from them for some time now. I would not recommend sending them money for membership or merchandise at this time. Also, they no longer reply to their e-mail address: RKArmy@aol.com. Please let me know if you do hear anything from them.
What movies have Jeff & Steve McDonald appeared in? There is a complete listing here. This is a brief summary:
Where can I buy these movies? You can get "Desperate Teenage Lovedolls", "Lovedolls Superstar", "Macaroni & Me", and "The Slog Movie" from We Got Power Films ("Macaroni & Me" appears on the "Some Shit" video). "Spirit Of 76" is available new from most online video stores
but you will pay around $80-$90 for it. Your best bet is to search for it on eBay where it goes for a more reasonable price of $20-$30. "Gas Food Lodging" and "Grace Of My Heart" should be available to rent at your local video store. You might also find them for sale at the above mentioned sites.
Where can I buy Redd Kross albums? The albums Phaseshifter, Show World and Born Innocent are quite easy to find. You can buy them online from CDNow, and they should also be available at most good record stores. Neurotica and Third Eye are somewhat harder to find, although a Japanese label did re-release Third Eye in 1997. At last check it was available from All*Stars online.
Where can I get a copy of Neurotica? There were only 5,000 copies of Neurotica made on CD. People I know do find it from time to time but it IS NOT cheap (it usually sells for a minimum of around $50 US). The vinyl version is somewhat easier to find, although it can also be kind of expensive (min. $30 US). There is also a cassette version, which is (of course) fairly hard to find as well. If you are lucky enough to find this on CD, keep it safe and warm, and give it a good home. :-)
Is Teen Babes From Monsanto available on CD? Although the actual Teen Babes LP was never released on CD all the songs from it are available on the Trance: Australian Tour 1992 CD. This was released ONLY in Australia (on Insipid Vinyl) and is rumored to have been a limited edition of 1,000.
Who are Tater Totz and Anarchy 6 and how are they relevant to Redd Kross? Tater Totz was a band more-or-less formed by Bill Bartell (a.k.a. Pat Fear). Jeff and Steve featured fairly heavily in this project, playing instruments and doing vocals on all three albums. They also performed a few gigs, and were booed off the stage at the 1988 Beatlefest (Jeff was not in the band on this occasion). The three Tater Totz albums, Alien Sleestacks From Brazil (CS and LP only), Mono Stereo (CD and CS) and Tater Comes Alive (CD and CS) are all still available if you look in the right places. Anarchy 6 was the band featured in Lovedolls Superstar. Steve's character (after his "transformation") performs lead vocals in the group. Anarchy 6 went on to record 2 albums, Hardcore Lives and Live Like A Suicidal, a live album (released only on cassette) consisting almost completely of old punk covers. The audience was unimpressed! Both Anarchy 6 releases are almost impossible to find these days, and you will usually pay a hefty sum for them unless you are extremely lucky and find them in a used bin someplace. |
